Satomi’s Atelier

I was born in Hiroshima, Japan and had many opportunities to experience and appreciate various kinds of art. Known as the “world peace city,” Hiroshima has many artists exhibiting from around the world. As a child, I grew up with an art-loving mother who took me to numerous exhibits.

My way of painting watercolor is to complete the work before the paper becomes dirty in order to keep the transparency. In other words, watercolor painting shows various human philosophies.

Some people say that when they look at my paintings they feel “nostalgic,” “scenic,” or “peaceful.” I would be honored if my paintings brought”peace” to people’s minds. In the end, that is what I want my paintings to do.
